He incorporates and integrates technology to his every day teaching.He teaches each lesson uniquely and differently. He makes effective use of camera and LCD projector to make innovative experiment and greater impact.

He brought wonderful, outstanding and magnificent XII CBSE results for the school year after year.

All Inclusive Assessment & Evaluation: Daily assessment and monthly evaluation: Students are assessed every day for the activities they do in the class. Some examples of criteria for assessment are loud reading of lesson, speaking answers loudly for questions asked, quickly answering ten questions in short sentences in writing, singing the lines of the poem, quality of note book handwriting, assignment submission, dialogue delivery of a play, dramatisation of text play, role play etc. Each cadet gets assessed four times a week. Some total of all these in the month cumulatively becomes his score of the monthly test. Best five is taken in to account while giving his monthly score. This results in daily assessment and monthly evaluation. Children show eagerness in each class and exhibit enthusiasm in the learning process. 

He organises his teaching classes differently: As facilitator of English language learning, he creates environment for the students to acquire knowledge by doing activities themselves. He builds non-threatening, affable and friendly atmosphere.He makes sure that each student has the opportunity to interact during the class. He assigns small groups of students, topics for discussion to find solutions, perspectives and point of view and students decide on a presentation format to the whole class.
He integrates technology to teaching learning process. He extensively uses suitable and relevant audios, videos, photos and text collected from internet to class room teaching. Students listen to poems sung by native English speakers, hear loud reading of the novels and text lessons from British speakers from England. He dramatises the parts of the play and directs dramas to enact on stage.

He has enacted a scene from Shakespeare’s “Julius Ceaser” for school anniversary. He has devised appropriate costume for Caesar, Antony, Brutus and senators.

He uses camera for extensively to record and play Cadets class room videos for self correction of pronunciation and mannerisms. He uses High speed computer and LCD projector to make classroom teaching more interesting.
He gives special attention and assistance to gifted and weak children. He calls them in the afternoons and on holidays to check their home work and suggests measures to improve hand writing. He corrects their spelling and grammar. To gifted children, during his free time, he gives them matter, script and takes repeated practice for public speaking, debating, declamation, welcome address, vote of thanks, narration, dialogue writing, dramatization, costume preparation and stage acting. He encourages gifted children to read novels and conducts oral book reviews. He also has a personal collection books. He issues them to gifted cadets to create wide reading habits.  
The teacher participated in the following workshop in the last five years:
1. English Workshop Faculty Development and Research Centre, Shankar Vihar, New Delhi from 30 August to 03 Sept 2010
2. All India Inservice Traing in English language Teaching held at Sainik School Kazhakootam, Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala from 11 to 21 May 2012.
3. Skill Enhancement Workshop for the teachers' of English language from Sainik Schools conducted at Faculty Development and Research Centre, Shankar Vihar, New Delhi from 27 to 31 May 2013

English Language Teaching Resource Person: D.Vijaya Kumar underwent ‘In-service Resource Person’s Training Course’ in 1995 under the English Language Teaching Project organized by the CBSE, New Delhi. The Training programme held at Hyderabad gave an orientation in the communicative approach to teaching of English and familiarised with the strategies to plan, organise and conduct In-service Education course for the teachers of English language. He has been visiting the schools propagating the communicative approach to teaching of English language.

Inbuilt functional research in teaching and enhanced learning of the students:
He has carried out inbuilt functional research in teaching and enhanced learning of the students from time to time. Some samples are given.  He  conducts morning assembly in the class on every Friday before commencement of the class . One cadet per house and six in all speak for two minutes each. One is appointed President for the conduct, three asked to be assessors, another one time manager. One cadet reviews the speakers’ speeches of the day. This has enhanced speaking skills of the cadets in the class. The confidence, ease of delivery is very high among these cadets.

Air Wing NCC Officer:
He is Air Wing NCC Officer since 1985. He has been serving the cadets in various ways. He has taken cadets to various places like Purulia, West Bengal, Chidambaram, Tamilnadu for Annual camps. He also has taken cadets to Air Force Station Tambaram, Belgaum for paragliding training. He conducted many inter-troop competitions like Volley Ball, Foot Ball matches, singing patriotic song, debate, declamation, cross country & drill competitions during annual NCC Camps.
Adventure Youth Camp organised by Sri Aurobindo Education Society:
Shri D.Vijaya Kumar participated actively in the Adventure Youth Camp organised by Sri Aurobindo Education Society, New Delhi held at Nainital, Uttaranchal, in Oct 2008. He participated vigorously in rock climbing & trekking activities like scrambling, bouldering, climbing, river crossing.He trekked in the locations like Land’s End, Sri Aurobindo Peak, Tiffin Top, Dorothy Seat,Naina Peak,Snow View and Kainchi during the camp. He has been very active in organising cycling and trekking for the cadets of the school.
Recently he successfully took 20 cadets of the school for adventure tour to LOC,( Jammu, Srinagar, Uri sector, Gulmarg).He organises every day morning assembly and public speaking sessions methodically. He also trains the children to organise inter-house debate and declamation.

Shri D.Vijaya Kumar underwent NCC Refresher course at Air Force Station Tambaram, Tamilnadu from 15 Feb to 12 March 2011 and completed the course in “Exceptional Grading” with a high score of 82.67%. He stood second among the trainees.

House Master for long period of 19 years for Junior and Senior Cadets:
He was House Master for long period of 19 years for Junior and Senior Cadets. He was interacting with doctors of the district hospital to provide medical care on emergencies.


Spotlight to Sainik School Bijapur:
His enthusiasm and the attitude to bring in spotlight to Sainik School Bijapur will be remembered in the ages to come. He has brought prominence to the school through electronic media. The Golden Jubilee year of the school will be remembered through him.
He has shot, from the helicopter, a beautiful aerial video of Sainik School Bijapur capus in Sept 2010. It is viewed 2,181 times and extremely popular inflight view of the campus.
Shri D.Vijaya Kumar commands great respect, admiration and esteem among the students. He believes in leading by example. He inspires students. Students maintain discipline at all places. He maintains warm, pleasant, affable and cordial relations with his fellow teachers and other staff of the school. He actively participates in the parent teacher meetings.

Trained cadets:
He has trained cadets of various communities, religions, castes, different demographic regions from all over India to get in to defence services as commissioned officers. As house master for 19 years, as Associate NCC Officer for 27 years and as teacher of the school for the last 30 years, he has generated an atmosphere of casteless & classless living in the campus. He trained cadets to sing “Hum Sab Bharatiya Hai” to build national character, comradeship and secular outlook. As in-charge of morning school Assembly, he ensured that all cadets sang “Daya kar daan vidya Ka hame paramatma dena,Vatan ke vaaste jeena, vatan ke vaaste marna” enthusiastically and energetically.In addition,he helped cadets of the school to present the song 'Honge kaamyaab, honge kaamyaab ,hum honge kaamyaab ek din' at Raj Bhavan, Bangalore on 01 September 2013.
